RAJBALA

Rajbala, a house maker from Nyoli kalan, Hisar, aspired to join SL Minda skill centre Cutting and Tailoring (C&T) programme in order to be financially independent. She is mother of two, which made it difficult for her to attend classes on a daily basis, the situation was well understood by the skill centre teacher who in turn, gave her freedom to come to the classes as per her convenience. All of it gave more confidence to Rajbala and made her complete the course with more determination. Earlier, she used to approach the tailors in her neighbourhood to stitch suits, blouses etc for her but now, after finishing the C & T programme, she stitches her own suits & blouses, and with time she started stitching for others as well. She now earns a handful amount monthly which covers her expenses.

NEELAM

Neelam, 28 years old, comes from Shahpur village, has two daughters and her husband works at a shop. She joined SL minda skill centre in time of lockdown when her husband had a tough time at job. She used to come at centre and her husband used to take care of their daughters. For 6 months she showed her dedication towards training and before even completing the course, she took her first order and earned her first penny. She got so much motivated and decided to take her sewing to new level. Now she earns a handsome amount of money from sewing and parlor work which she saves for her daughters bright future.

KAMLESH

Kamlesh, 38 year old from Bagla Hisar, a mother of 20 year old, was always dedicated to her household and never had time for her own intersts. After years she decided to take a step for her and wanted to join SL Minda skill centre Cutting and Tailoring (C&T) programme. At first the idea didn’t seem good to her family and they were against of her to join the centre, but her stubborness made them agree to this course. She was so dedicated that distance didn’t matter to her. She daily walks for 2.5km to reach the skill centre. She earns a decent amount for her living and at last her family is very happy of her decision.

PRIYANKA

Priyanka, hailing from the village, Siswal had always desired to earn herself a big name. But, due to prevalent social evils in her village, she was married off at a young age. The early marriage and delivery of her child, made it tough for her. However, her husband and inlaws were supportive of her restarting her career and that’s when she got herself enrolled for the C & T course. The new learnings from the course not only helped brush up her skills but aided her growth and development too. After completion of the course, she started working from home using a set-up to make her stitching job easier. And at present, she’s happily self-employed.

RENU

Renu is 25 years old and hails from the Siswal village. Her tale demonstrates how with perseverance and devotion, one can make one’s dream come true. In December 2021, Renu made up her mind to become financially independent and in order to do so; she got on her quest to find a job. However, due to absence of any skill, she was only offered job of a house help. That’s when she decided to learn some skill that earns her a decent living. She then enrolled herself in the Beauty and wellness course offered by S.L. Minda Skill Centre. Following that, she began practising makeup at home and started her own small parlor setup which helps her bear her own expenses now. She says “If one is determined, one can accomplish anything”.

POOJA

Pooja, a 21 year old from Bagla, Hisar had always been keen to learn Cutting and Tailoring but due to lack of guidance, she was unable to begin her career. However, one day, one of her family members, who’s a teacher of Cutting and tailoring at the SL Minda Skill Centre, asked her to get enrolled in the C & T program. The teacher provided her immense support for getting enrolled and that in turn paved her way to help achieve her goal. Currently, she earns a decent amount of money from stitching and pays her own fee for graduation. She is a girl with utter determination and enthusiasm towards her goal in life. Her hard work is known in her village and people believe in her skills.

PINKY

Pinky, a 28 year old had moved to Shahpur village after her marriage. Since she was new to the place, she didn’t have anything to do and so she tried to utilize her time by learning new skills. She was pretty confident and a good learner. She thought of giving Cutting and Tailoring course at SLMSC a try since she wanted to learn a new skill. She got inspired by hearing stories of women who started with nothing and are now self-dependent. This gave her an idea of starting her own venture. Hence, after completing her Cutting & Tailoring Course, she discussed the idea with her family members and they all supported her. She toiled hard till the last, practiced hard and brought innovative ideas, all of which lead her to earn a living from her own venture.

SANTOSH

Santosh, a native of Mohabbatpur village came from a low-status household. Alongwith being financially unstable, her family had orthodox mentality too. Santosh was not permitted to go outside her home. Though her situation was miserable but her eyes had a million dreams to pursue. Owing to which, after persuading her family members, she got herself enrolled in the C & T programme at the SL Minda Skill Centre. She successfully completed her course of 6 months. She is now confident enough to make her work known in the village. She also developed interpersonal skills with this training and became vocal enough and now works on her own.

JYOTI

Jyoti, a 23 year old from a small village Nyoli kalan, Hisar aspired to accomplish something significant in her life. She desired to stand tall amongst her family members, but owing to financial constraints, she was unable to realize her ambition. She made up her mind to give her dreams another try when she learned about the Cutting and Tailoring course provided by SL Minda Skill Centre at an affordable price. She put forth a lot of effort to learn everything that was taught to her, and put her unique ideas to practice. This not only boosted her self-esteem, but it also gave her the opportunity to become financially independent. She finished the programme in 2022 and is now the proud owner of a small setup in her own village.

NIIJIMA

Niijima, resident of Bagla village, 12 years old, studying in class 9th, She lives with her maternal family. She saw her neighbor going to SL minda skill center and asked her to take her along for one day. She visited skill center and asked her uncle to get herself enrolled. Her uncle at first was reluctant of her idea of joining skill center and learning sewing, as he found it of no use. But she was stubborn and convinced him and enrolled herself. Along with school classes she was thoroughly dedicated to the training classes as well. She was the youngest graduate of her batch. At mere age of 12 she earned her first penny by sewing a suit set for a small kid, and proved her uncle wrong. Now she earn a little sometimes and collect it in her piggybank. She is happy and proudly tell everyone about her skills.

SUMAN DEVI

Suman, a 37 year old home-maker from Shahpur village had always wanted to help her husband financially, but due to unavailability of any earning opportunity in her village, she was unable to do so. However, after establishment of Skill Centre at her village, things got easy for her. She enrolled herself in the Skill Centre’s Beauty Wellness programme. After getting enrolled, she began to learn new things and started practicing them. Gradually, she became well-known in her neighborhood and as a result, she started catering to the beauty and wellness needs of her neighbors during the wedding season. At present, she earns a decent amount of money from this job and is able to support her husband financially.

KHUSHI

Khushi, a 12 year old coming from Mohabbatpur village always had a thing to try her hands out on new things. Seeing such curiosity in her, her mother decided to get her enrolled in the Cutting & Tailoring programme at the SL Minda Skill Centre. There, she was able to acquire new skills and put the existing ones to practice. After getting done with her course, Khushi went on to take customized orders from her relatives, neighbours and acquaintances at a very affordable rate. At present, she earns a decent amount of money from such orders and has set an example of becoming financially independent at a young age.

URMILA

Urmila, a 22 year old from the Shahpur village comes from a middle class family. Her family has always been supportive of her education and other interests. And so, when she asked them to permit her to join the Beauty & Wellness course at SLMSC, they immediately agreed. There, she learned how to do makeup, hairstyle and other things. She also got hands-on training experience there. She grasped all the things very fast and started applying these skills on her family members. She then started her own venture, did party and bridal make-ups of people living in the same locality. She is all independent now and says she feels grateful to be a part of the SL Minda family.

ANNYUTI

Annuati, a 26 year old hails from Siswal village, Hisar. She comes from a middleclass household and has always strived to be self-sufficient, which is why after learning about SL Minda Skill Centre through one of her neighbours, she decided to pay the centre a visit. She observed the students learning at their own pace there. The patterns were quite incredible, and the trainer even told anecdotes about the students who had passed out. She was completely enthralled and chose to enroll in the Cutting & Tailoring course. This was one of the most important decisions she had ever made. She learned cutting and tailoring and is currently earning a good amount of money through it. She had no idea that this would be her fate, and that she would be able to become financially independent one day.

NISHA

Nisha, 21 year old lives in the Shahpur village. After getting done with her studies, she wanted to make good use of her time and hence was looking for a skill through which she could support the expenses of her family. She got to know about the courses at SLMSC through one of her friends. She visited the center and decided to take up the Beauty &Wellnes course. Nisha found that the trainings provided at the Center are not only easy to comprehend but also useful when trying to set up an establishment of their own. After the completion of her course, she began getting clients and eventually had a setup created for herself at her house. She is glad that she found this opportunity to gain knowledge and to build something of her own.

JYOTI

Jyoti, a 24-year-old Nyoli Kalan native, grew up in a rural environment where most girls were not allowed to leave their houses. Jyoti’s family encouraged her to complete her education and get her degree regardless of the conditions. Her parents urged her to enlist in a skill development programme that would assist her in not just learning a new skill but will also help in improving her overall personality. She enrolled in the Beauty and Wellness course at the S.L. Minda Skill Centre. Despite her young age and low education, she says she is fully confident and capable of earning more than 5000 per month.

KAMLA

Kamla, lives in Siswal, Hisar, and at the age of 33, she wanted to give herself a chance to make a name for herself, despite the fact that she had no support from her in-laws or even her parents. After sudden demise of her husband, she was on her own in her adventure. She felt insecure and underconfident. She used to arrive at the centre and find girls half her age learning with her, but she quickly mixed with them all and even the girls looked up to her as an inspiration. She was a very active and quick learner who also aided the upliftment of younger trainees at the centre. She now works solely in her home and lives with her parents, financially supporting them. Her parents are proud of her, and after hearing Kamla’s tale, many women of her village are motivated to stand up for themselves.
