HP WoW Project

HP – World on Wheels (WoW) digital buses offer a unique mobility solution to bridge the digital divide between the urban and the rural / semi-rural parts of the country. HP WoW is a 20-seater; IT-enabled bus which is equipped with the latest computing and printing equipment as well as numerous software and e-learning tools. Designed using state-of-the-art technology to reduce emissions and maximise energy efficiency, each bus is powered by eleven high-efficiency solar panels and battery packs, generating and storing enough power to sustain the lab’s daily energy requirement. It aims to promote e-learning for children, skills & entrepreneurship for youth and digital-based services for the community people. This initiative is to bridge the digital divide among the school-going children, youth and community in Manesar, Gurugram Haryana. HP Wow Project is initiated by Moga Devi Minda Charitable Trust. It is also a new project for digital literate school and college students.

As part of the MoU signed with Hewlett Packard (HP), MDMCT and HP are creating digital literacy among the rural population under the project ‘World on Wheels’. The project focuses on building and deploying internet-enabled digital inclusion and learning labs to facilitate digital literacy, education programming, entrepreneurship training, and other community services in rural areas. Mobile computer labs (big multi-axle buses with computer lab set up) have been equipped with the necessary paraphernalia. During its stay at the designated villages, the bus extends its services for 10 hours, of which 4 hours is devoted to school children, 3 hours to youth, 1 hour for dispensing common services like Aadhaar, MeeSeva services etc, and 2 hours for creating awareness on government schemes and various development themes.
